About Be The Bee​™

Be The Bee™ is a professional beekeeping management app for individual beekeepers and organizations. It provides hive inspection recording (including AI-powered voice inspection), health tracking, trend analysis, apiary management, and operational planning tools.

Data We Collect

Be The Bee™ collects the following categories of data to provide and improve the Service:

 

Account and Identity Data

• Name and email address;

• Organization name and role;

• Login credentials (passwords are not stored in plain text);

• Subscription and billing information (processed via third-party payment providers).

 

Hive and Inspection Data

• Hive inspection records including brood, honey, frame counts, and health observations;

• Structured data generated from voice inspection inputs;

• Apiary location data (GPS coordinates or manually entered locations);

• Equipment records and operational notes;

• Mite test results and treatment records.

 

Voice and Audio Data

• We do not store raw voice recordings from voice inspections;

• Text transcripts generated from voice inspections are stored as part of inspection records;

• Audio notes voluntarily attached to inspections are stored on our servers;

• We do not collect or use biometric voiceprints.

 

Uploaded Photos

• Photographs voluntarily attached to inspection records are stored on our servers;

• Photos are associated with your account and inspection history.

 

Sensor and Integration Data

• Data from connected hive sensors, where integrations are enabled;

• Calendar event data, where calendar integration is enabled;

• Push notification tokens for delivery of reminders and alerts.

 

Technical and Device Data

• Device type and operating system;

• App version;

• Crash logs and diagnostic data;

• App usage and performance data.

 

How We Use Your Data

We use collected data to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Be The Bee™ app and all its features;

• Process voice inspection inputs and generate structured inspection data;

• Store and display hive records, trends, and health metrics;

• Enable multi-user organizational accounts and team collaboration;

• Deliver push notifications, reminders, and alerts;

• Sync with connected third-party services such as calendar integrations;

• Generate aggregated and anonymized analytics to improve the Service;

• Train, evaluate, and improve AI and machine learning models — including the voice inspection system — using inspection records, transcripts, audio notes, and uploaded photographs, in accordance with applicable privacy law;

• Respond to support requests and communicate with users;

• Comply with legal obligations.

 

We do not sell your personal data to third parties for commercial purposes.

Be The Bee™ does not use any data to track you across third-party apps or websites for advertising purposes.

 

Google Play Store: Data Safety

The following section is provided to meet Google Play’s Data Safety requirements.

 

Data Collection

Be The Bee™ collects user data as described above. Collection of account, inspection, and location data is required for core app functionality. The app cannot operate without these data types.

 

Data Sharing

We share limited data with the following categories of third parties:

• Cloud infrastructure providers (for hosting and storage);

• Push notification service providers (for delivery of alerts and reminders);

• Calendar integration providers (where the user enables calendar sync);

• Payment processors (for subscription billing).

We do not share personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

 

Security Practices

• Data is encrypted in transit using TLS;

• Data is encrypted at rest on our servers;

• You can request deletion of your data by contacting our support team.

 

Data Deletion

Users may request deletion of their account and associated data by contacting herman@beekeepinginnovations.net. Deletion requests are processed within a commercially reasonable timeframe. Some data may be retained for up to 24 months following account termination for legal and compliance purposes.

 

AI and Voice Processing

Be The Bee™ uses an AI-powered natural language processing system to convert spoken inspection inputs into structured hive data. This system is purpose-built for beekeeping inspection commands.

• Voice inspection audio is processed to generate a text transcript; raw audio is not retained;

• Processing may occur on-device or via secure cloud infrastructure;

• Transcripts, audio notes, and uploaded photographs may be used to train or improve AI models, in compliance with applicable privacy legislation;

• No automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects is performed on users;

• Users are responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-generated inspection entries.

 

Offline Use

Be The Bee™ supports offline functionality. When operating offline:

• Inspection data is stored locally on your device;

• Data is synchronized to our servers when connectivity is restored;

• Locally stored data is subject to your device’s own security controls.

 

Third-Party Services

Be The Bee™ may integrate with the following categories of third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

• Cloud infrastructure and storage providers;

• Push notification delivery services;

• Calendar services (e.g., Google Calendar), where the user enables integration;

• Hive sensor platforms, where the user enables integration;

• Payment processors for subscription management.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage users to review the privacy policies of any third-party services they connect to Be The Bee™.

 

International Data Transfers

Some service providers may process data outside of Canada, including in the United States. Where data is processed in other jurisdictions, it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We use contractual and technical safeguards to protect transferred data and require third-party processors to maintain standards consistent with applicable Canadian privacy legislation.

 

Children’s Privacy

Be The Bee™ is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or a higher age where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided personal information, we will take prompt steps to delete it.

 

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you;

• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;

• Request deletion of your account and associated data;

• Withdraw consent to certain data processing activities;

• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this App Store Privacy Policy from time to time. Where changes are material, we will provide at least 14 days’ advance notice via email or in-app notification before changes take effect. Continued use of the app after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
